b-b-b-boyakasha!!!!!!!!!

"Oh,
HBO. Just when you start to make me think that you're losing your touch you announce something that completely knocks me out of my chair. The cable channel is developing a period miniseries about Abraham Lincoln's assassination, handled by a collaboration between Oz creator Tom Fontana and The Wire creator David Simon. Simon and Fontana first worked together on the critically-acclaimed NBC series Homicide: Life on the Street which was based on David Simon's non-fiction book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets. After the show's closing, they both went on to HBO; Fontana created HBO's first one-hour drama Oz while Simon eventually made television masterpiece in The Wire"

Cant FUCKIN wait!!!!!!!!!

Generation Kill

Ok, so like 99% of people who blog i have left this shit alone for tiiiiiiime but this is only due to the sickening amount of sick shit i have been doing recently, like watching Generation Kill:

Generation Kill is a HBO (Best tv channel ever) produced mini series of the novel of the same name. It focus on the us marines as they prepare and embark on storming Baghdad within the first few days of the war. In typical HBO and David Simon (creator of the must see The Wire) style it deals with the peripheral politics and humanity that many dramatisations seems to fall short of.

It can be found on the usual streaming and torrent sites... now go and watch!

One Of The Greats Have Fallen

A teacher, actor, poet, and general genius among other things.

I genuinely felt sad when i heard this news. he was always a great inspiration but one cant help but feel he was living a painful existence since is wife passed. His material certainly got a lot darker.
Anyway i don't think i have any right to say anything about this fella as his words are far more pertinent.

WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My next holiday destination...

Boys Will Be Boys

Trains Pills and Girls...

Scorzilla the gorilla

What more can be said about this guy? I know I have run out of superlatives but I will give it a try...
Scorzayzee aka Skorz is a rapper/poet hailing from Nottingham u.k. He first released music as part of the "Out Da Ville" crew who created their songs in Big Trev's infamous Community Recording Studio, a free studio for anyone who want to turn their hand to music.
Scorz then went and released the Six Of The Best e.p featuring such classics as Heroes Die and Crepps and a follow up single, Great Britain. Before converting to Islam. After converting he hung up his mic, so to speak and turned his hand to acting. Incidentally his last gig was performed in front of 40,000 people supporting Redman...

But Scorz is back!!!!!! Initially releasing a song on white label - final destination. Then quickly following up with a e.p featuring the songs Scorz-Chat and Not The Busy Road which are currently doing the rounds on pirate and 1xtra. Scorzayzee also features heavily in the current Shane Meadows/Paddy Considine project "le donk", recently performing with Considine at the Arctic Monkeys gig at old trafford cricket ground.

but anyway my words pale in comparison to his. So I'll let the rhymes do the talking.

ladies and gentlemen... Scorzayzee

It Seems The Sky Is Blu

I first heard this chap when i was sent a couple of tunes by a good friend of mine. Shamefully, i had never even heard of him. But with the lack of promo he seems to do word of mouth appears to be his best weapon.
i first got what i think is his debut, bar a few 12inches and typical dues paying mix tapes and was instantly infatuated with his ability to be sentimental but not cliche and rugged but without the bravado which plagues the current rap scene.

Below The Heavens is a straight forward 5/5... nuff said

Johnson & Johnson (Blu & Mainframe) - Powders & Oils is a very strong 4/5 Unfortunately when listening you cant help but occasionally wishing mainframe would ease off and let blu shine. Not to say Mainframe is wack by any means. Its just all about Blu.

There are a couple of others flying around also. One of which i managed to get a copy of today but i haven't had a chance to really session it yet so maybe, it will feature at a later date.

Oh yeah these links were both jacked from "Hectic's Hip-Hop Thread". A great source for global underground hip hop.

def poetry for the blind

So being my first an all, i think i should start with what i have been spending pretty much all my spare time watching...

Team Hollywood;

here's two poets by the names of Rives and Shihan. both are part of "Team Hollywood", a notorious poetry team, who have a tendency for winning poetry slam contests with ease. both have a brilliantly individual style. Shihan being the latter of the two.

Tommy Bottoms

Tommy Bottoms is one of the poets that got me into spoken word. His gritty style is a antidote to the subtle venom of "flowery" poetry that we all remember falling asleep to at school.

Other than having possibly the shitest alias in spoken word, Gemineye is a beast. Poems like Poetic Bloodlines still give me shivers after countless readings.
